It was a beautiful sunny weekend but windy and cold. Dressing in layers is always a good idea when antiquing as well as bringing a great tote bag to carry your treasures home in. I had a comfy warm coat on; my favorite new tote bag and my Hell Bunny pinup dress so I was feeling fantastic for a day of antiquing.
Hope you all are with loved ones and friends today enjoying yummy foods, lots and lots of laughter and sharing all that you are thankful for. Today is the second Thanksgiving in our house and the sun is shining outside, our puppy dog Luna woke up happy and excited and soon our bird will be in the oven and the delicious smell of Thanksgiving will be wafting through our house… hmmmm, maybe Luna knows this? Ha!
The past few months have been out-of-this-world amazing for us. We are both healthy and wakeup each morning with a zest for life. Ok, the 4 shot espresso hubby brings me in bed helps 🙂 I am thankful for my hubby!! I am thankful that my husband and I are more in love than ever, we celebrated 15years of marriage in September and I am grateful for sharing my life with him, all the love and laughter we share each and everyday!! We worked very hard to have been able to settle in gorgeous California wine country and our house couldn’t be anymore perfect, our orange tree out front already has oranges!! My husband continues to expand his vintage camera business and it is so rewarding when his customers write him and share how much joy and fun they have using his amazing UpcycledClassics cameras and how many people give his cameras as gifts all over the world. His vision was to bring back the joy of shooting with Polaroid cameras and with his incredible color combos, these cameras really are dynamite!! I am so thankful for the opportunities I have had this year. If you are a follower of my blog you might recall I made a change to my wardrobe and styling where I started dressing in vintage/vintage inspired clothing and incorporating a Pinup Girl style. I have never felt as beautiful and feminine as I do these days. Talk about a confidence boost!! I have also been featured in magazines and websites modeling….. yes, modeling! Never in a million years would I have thought I’d be a model 🙂 I have lots of exciting projects coming out in 2016 so stay tuned for details. But, I am grateful and thankful for the opportunities that are coming my way and my dream is to be a successful motivational public speaker so this platform is helping with exposure and getting to share my message. Spiritually, I am in the best place. I had some situations and experiences this year and I am a new person spiritually. I am so thankful!! I am also thankful that my twin sister, nieces and family all have a close relationship, not a single day goes by where we don’t talk or text. I am thankful to all my blog and social media friends, your support is incredible!! We are very blessed and fortunate for all the love, material possessions, and having such amazing people in our lives.
I did a recent photoshoot that was Christmas themed, I will start sharing pics on my blog here in December, just a couple days away, and social media Instagram and Twitter a Christmas pic a week so stay tuned.
A couple pics I snapped yesterday of the vineyards, leaves are glorious and full of Fall colors!! In a few days however the leaves will have dropped and the vines will be sticks…..until late May when they start to bloom again.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
Summer is nearly here and the weather out here in California has been heating right up. I just love the sweet red cherry collectibles from the 1940s-1950s; everything from vintage kitchen salt and pepper shakers, mixing bowls, shelf paper and trim to the vintage cherry tablecloths and of course vintage cherry Bakelite brooches and the bathing suites from that era. I am definitely looking for vintage cherry collectibles!!
It’s New Year’s Eve today. I hope you all have been having a splendid time with your family and friends this holiday season. Have you managed to get out and do some antiquing, thrifting, or junking? Its nearly time to take down the Christmas decorations but I have decided I am going to keep most of my vintage Christmas items (figurines, bottle brush trees, Putz houses and more) up in my curio cabinet as it gives me so much joy to look at them…..I am not ready to pack them away.
Many of my regular readers know I compile a list each New Year of what the ‘hot’ collectibles are predicted to be. Here is the 2014 list. Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous 2014 with LOTS of good thrifting, junking, and antiquing!!

Hi everyone, hope your Black Friday has been safe and for those that braved it and went to the malls…. did you score any deals?? We didn’t end up going anywhere today. Instead, my husband was hard at work and opened his brand new Etsy store – UpcycledClassics. He has a passion for vintage cameras and has found a way to combine his passion for photography, cameras, and art into these one-of-a-kind UpcycledClassics. He tests each and every camera to make sure it is in working condition; he actually locates the vintage film for these Pentax, Kodak and Polaroids and takes photos with each camera, cleans each, adjusts len’s and puts in new batteries and more and then gives them a whole new look with a blast of fabulous color. If you are into photography, art, or vintage cameras or know someone that is, would you please help spread the word of the UpcycledClassics store. Thank you in advance!!
The truth is, I can’t stay away from antique malls, flea markets, or estate sales and feel a real ‘need’ to visit these places at least a couple times a month. The weather here in Northern California’s wine country has been pretty rainy but today was dry and sunny and after we ran our errands we headed to the quaint town of Healdsburg to Mill Street Antiques. There were lots of shoppers and the booths didn’t really have great sales. Also, looked like several booths were on the way out/closing down and that might mean new dealers taking occupancy soon (another reason to visit after the New Year to see what the new booths have). My husband found several cool vintage cameras and books and I found these adorable Lefton Ballerina wall plaques, vintage 1950s poodles, vintage linens with embroidered Scottie dogs and horses, vintage hankies and a vintage Napco Christmas spaghetti poodle dog figurine and I was really happy!!
As 2012 quickly comes to an end, I am thinking about 2013 and my dream job – my dream job would be to travel around the country to antique malls, flea markets, estate sales, and private residences touring the locations, meeting the collectors, vendors and dealers, talking about the goodies/treasures in each of the locations, how and what started people building collections and film it all….putting together a sort of ‘day trip’ guide or ‘best of’ show on what each town has to offer. Hmmmm, I recall a very wise woman once saying “find what it is you love to do and turn it into a job”. Wishing you all a safe, healthy, and prosperous 2013!!
