Mid-Century Modern Flamingos and Novelty Print Pinup Skirts

Yasmina Greco - Heart of Haute Pink Mingo Ella Top

It has been a week of non-stop rain here in California. I am ready for sunshine and flamingos!! When I saw this Mandie Bee Ella Top in Pink Mingo print on the Heart of Haute website I could not wait to get it on my body. Pink flamingos on a work appropriate blouse is not something you are lucky enough to find everyday. I paired the Pink Mingo Ella top with a simple black circle skirt and it looks great with a white or pink cardigan added for a little warmth and perfect for the office. For reference I am wearing the top in a 2xl to accommodate my large breasts and I love that the fit is perfect for very curvy gals while not being too extreme and that is why this is my new go-to top for the office . The pussybow adds the right amount of chic femininity too!!

Next up is the colorful MCM Furniture Novelty Print skirt from The Oblong Box Shop. The brilliant orange and teal colors just pop and I love the mid-century modern boomerang coffee table, sputnik clock, 50s sofa and TV on this print. I paired the skirt with my favorite turquoise blue Lily top from Heart of Haute. It is such a fun outfit to wear!! I wear the MCM print skirt in a XL and the Lily top is an XL too (lots of good stretch).

Yasmina Greco - Mid-Century Modern Pinup Shoot

My hubby Gary is a great photographer and we have a lot of fun working together on these Pinup shoots. Gary is also a great photo stylist and put together the Rockabilly Pinup set for this shoot that includes a George Nelson Mid-Century Modern style wall clock and the Danish modern cabinet with a shag rug and mid-mod drapes. I loved this set so much. Accessories on the shelves are from our collection.

Next week we have a fun Valentines Day shoot and I can’t wait to share the pics with you all.

Hope you all are doing great!!

Say Cheese! Vintage Valentine Cards

Where is the time going? It was just Christmas, then New Years, and now it will be Valentines Day. How sweet are these vintage Valentines? These are all camera / photography themed. A while back I did a post about all the cute vintage anthropomorphic Valentine cards and this year I came across these adorable cards of little cuties taking pictures. March will be here soon too and I am super excited as I will be heading up to Portland, Oregon for the Christine Palmer antiques and collectibles show where there will be 1,000 booths. I usually attend this show in July for the summer show and once in October for the Christmas show but this will be my first Spring show and I am really looking forward to it. I usually go to the show with my twin sister and we have the best time. I can’t wait to see what treasures we find. As has become my ‘norm’ I will be live tweeting and doing Vine video posts and fingers crossed the internet connection is better than it was at the summer show so please stay tuned, lots of great footage to come.

2016 in Pictures for Pinup Model Yasmina Greco

2016 has been a truly incredible year and I have so much to be thankful for. I have been doing Pinup for about one year now and have made so many friendships because of it. Pinup has given me the confidence to really put myself out there as a curve model and I hear from so many of my wonderful followers that they receive so much inspiration from my photos and how it makes their day. My style tends to be classic, elegant cheesecake with a hint of tease. If you follow me you know that I am all about the smile and facial expressions. I have been having so much fun doing Pinup and I am over-the-moon happy that I get to do so much of it with my photographer hubby Gary. We get to share in so many collaborations and adventures!!

Highlights for me personally on the Pinup front in  2016 was I was fortunate to have  opportunities to model for some of the leading brands in Pinup, Rockabilly and retro, vintage fashion and I learned so much from each photo shoot. Also, most of these brands are run by very strong women and it is so motivating to see just how hard they all work and what incredible work ethics they have. My pictures have been published internationally more than a dozen times this year and I am extremely proud of the hard work that went into each and every photo shoot and getting to work with the amazing photographers, hair and makeup teams and of course the magazines/publications.

Dreams really do come true thanks to my hubby!! We added a 1956 Nash Metropolitan to our family in 2016. The car needed a lot of love but hubby rescued it from a field and had it restored. Our Nash Metropolitan is a daily driver for us and we drive it to and from the office. Our Metro has also been featured in many of my photoshoots (some of my favorite pics are below). Many of you have told me how much you look forward to seeing Luna (our fluffy Bichon Frise puppy dog in the opening to this post) in my pics and here are some my favorites from 2016. I promise we will have many more pics with Luna in 2017…. she has a short attention span so sometimes we have a good chuckle because when she is done, she is done!

2016 was also full of classic car shows. We made it to all the big shows in our area this year and boy were the summer ones scorching hot!! It was so great getting to meet so many fans and posing with you all. We look forward to the 2017 classic car shows and seeing you all again!!

Many of you ask about the props and sets we use for photoshoots and all the items you see are ours. We really do live the vintage / Mid-Century Modern lifestyle and get a thrill when hunting for goodies to add to our collections, home and can be used in my pics. The red Philco Predicta TV in some December pics was a great find for us and it works!! We have some more neat and out-of-this-world treasures that will be featured in upcoming photoshoots.
Wishing you all an incredible 2017 filled with lots of love, good health, wealth and joy!!

Ultimate Vintage Christmas Guide 1950s Tree, Gifts & Cookies

Yasmina Greco

Do you have your tree up? How about cookies baked? Are you ready to wrap those gifts you scooped up Black Friday and Cyber Monday? Or, have you put a wreath up on your door? If you’ve answered ‘No’ to most of these then have no fear, Yasmina is here. I’ve assembled some tips and resources to help you have the vintage Pinup Girl style Christmas you’ve dreamed of.

Vintage 1950s Tinsel Christmas Tree

To have that vintage Christmas you’ve been dreaming about, you really need a tinsel Christmas tree from the 1950s. These trees really add so much vintage charm and can ‘make’ your room. Aluminum trees come in large and tabletop sizes and some even have tinsel pompoms on the tips of their branches. You can find these vintage tinsel trees at antique shops and online at eBay and many might even come with their original boxes. Pricing on these can range from $75 – $175.  If your tree comes with its original box you can store at after the holidays by removing the branches and placing them in their cartons and then folding up the tree base. If your tree does not come with a box and you have room, I suggest putting a large bag over it, covering it well to protect from dust, dirt and the general elements and it can stay stored upright till next Christmas.  (Pics from Pinterest)

Vintage Shinybrite Ornaments

The prettiest way to decorate your vintage aluminum tree is with 1950s Shinybrite Christmas ornaments. Shinybrites comes in many colors and styles and have that fabulous iridescence that glows beautifully hanging from the tree. The vintage boxes these ornaments come in have a lot of character and can even be used as decorations on shelves and under your tree. (Pics from Pinterest)

Pinup Girl Wrapping Paper

Pinup Girl Wrapping Paper

Now that your tree is up and you are feeling festive, you’ll need to add some wrapped packages to the bottom of your tree as the days start getting closer to Christmas. There actually are options if you want to go 100% vintage 1950s. eBay, has a nice selection of 1950s wrapping paper. I actually purchased several rolls this year and can tell you that when the paper arrived it was much duller in color than I was expecting so, please keep in mind that the colors might not be as bright and vivid as they are online. If you want fun gift wrap with the same vintage mid-century modern print then try Zazzle as this site has a bunch of options and I ordered some rolls from them and was really happy at the quality and bright colors. Ok, if you want to give your packages that ‘Pinup Girl Flare’ then you’ll want to wrap using paper that has Pinups on it. I found these fabulous Pinup Girl wrapping paper selections on Pinterest and you can find the websites there.

Christmas Cookies

Now for one of the tastiest parts of Christmas…. the cookies! You can find traditional, vintage 1950s cookie recipes here her ‘1950s Christmas Cookies‘. We’ll be starting our holiday baking this weekend so I will do a post on the cookies we baked. Also, why not add some fun shapes to your cookies with some neat cookie cutters in the shape of a Pinup Girl, flamingo, anchor and skull-cross bones. With these cookie cutters, your cookies will certainly stand out at your cookie exchange!! Etsy has some great selections for cookie cutters.

I have a special Christmas photo shoot I am wrapping up so stay tuned as I will post pics shortly.  Hope you are all doing great are ready for Christmas!!
