Being in quarantine since March 16 has been so many things and with so many feelings. My hubby Gary and I are some of the very fortunate ones that continue to remain employed and working from home. We try to see the positive of sheltering at home and are grateful everyday to have the comforts we have. It is sad not to see family and friends but we are all healthy and that is what matters most.
Happy Easter!! Hope everyone is healthy and safe. This is the very first quarantine Easter for all of us the world over and although we won’t be celebrating or attending services with our friends and family, we are doing the right thing by staying home. And, we can still get dressed up and glammed up for Easter. I’m also whipping up something sweet and yummy in my vintage Pyrex!

I have been in the Pinup scene for about two years now. I have seen this purple harlequin print Jenny dress by Pinup Girl Clothing on gals for the past two years and was really sad to learn it was sold out and no longer in production. There was also a Jenny skirt made and Lauren top out of the same purple harlequin print. I learned about a year ago that there is a term used for items you covet and dream of and it is ‘unicorn’. Well, this purple print was indeed my unicorn and I was not going to be in peace until I got my hands on it… determination set in.
It took a good year to land all 3 of my unicorns (Purple Harlequin Jenny dress, Jenny skirt and Lauren top). Here are 3 of my tips that I hope help you score your unicorns.
1. Join as many swap and sell groups on Facebook and check them regularly (my Lauren came from one)
2. Ebay…. Ebay USA, Ebay Australia and Ebay UK. Check regularly….. I setup alerts for when a harlequin print was posted. I did find a couple on the Ebay Australia site but the sellers would not ship internationally to me in California. ( I ended up getting the skirt on Ebay and then 6 months later the dress) The sellers were both outstanding and the items were immaculate.
3. Instagram…… a lot of the Pinups we follow also do regular closet clean outs and sell their items. Keep an eye out for these gals and some might have a separate account/ handle for their clothing sales. A Purple Harlequin Jenny dress came up for sale recently (right before I scored mine on Ebay) by a Pinup Girl Clothing model via her Instagram page but I was not lucky…. Someone snatched it up before me.
So there you have it, my 3 tips to score your unicorns. It worked for me. It did not happen overnight. I was compelled to find my unicorns and within a year I found all 3….. Wishing you ladies the very best luck in finding your unicorns too!! I would love to hear from you…. Please share your unicorn stories and if you have tips too on scoring unicorns.

It was the style and colors that first got my attention of the Pinup Girl Clothing Pinup Couture Nancy Dress in Blue Lemonade last summer with the aqua blue background pink lemons and white florals. The dress has so much attention to detail with adjustable straps, sweetheart neckline and a slightly padded bust with a ruched line down the middle to create definition and scalloped lace trim on the bust with a fabulous circle skirt complete with pockets. The Nancy is so dainty and feminine and I could not wait to slip my curves into it.
I ordered the Pink Lemonade Nancy shortly after the blue and thought what a fabulous Easter/Spring dress it would be. The pink lemons and white florals are perfect. It was a bit chilly this Easter Sunday so I wore the Nancy dress with my Heart of Haute white Sweet Sweater and I think it works so well with the dress as it not only hugs your curves, ties into a pretty bow and adds a layer of warmth.
I wear the Nancy in a size 2X to fit my well-endowed bosom. The waist is very very roomy in the 2X but, I find that adding a cute skinny belt or the Sweet Sweater make the dress incredibly figure flattering. The Nancy does have quite a bit length and that is actually something I really like as finding a longer dress is not always easy and, I think it is incredibly ladylike. I wear the Nancy dress with a striking pair of high heels and I couldn’t feel prettier or feminine. I add a nice fluffy petticoat underneath and I am ready to twirl!! I receive so many compliments too!!
My Bichon Frise Luna was my puppy bunny and posed so nicely for a Easter picture with me. Hope you all had a great Easter holiday.
