The Castle – Visiting Ledson Winery in California
Living in gorgeous wine country California we are fortunate to have world-class wineries so close by and today we visited the exquisite Ledson Winery in the heart of Sonoma Valley wine country on HWY 12. The drive was beautiful; it was sunny and cool having just sprinkled in the morning. The vineyards are essentially bare sticks this time of year but still gorgeous to take in and it was a beautiful drive.
You can’t miss the Ledson Winery also known as The Castle!! It is a 16,000 sqft Gothic French-Normandy style winery and tasting room. The Castle is absolutely stunning!! Ample parking is provided and the grounds are exquisite with manicured lawns, trees, and florals. Restrooms are easily accessible and are also in the style of The Castle in a separate building right by the parking lot making it very convenient for those who drove a long distance. A gorgeous fountain is a focal point in the front and imagining what springtime is like here when the roses and flowers are blooming, a sweet smell in the air and the vineyards are lush with grapes is surely a dream. We will certainly be back in the Spring and will post photos for you all.
Swamp Monster Halloween
This is the first year in a very long time that we didn’t make it to the pumpkin patch for our annual Halloween photoshoot. The Kincade wildfire here in Northern California has been so scary, burned thousands of acres and we are under a mandatory evacuation. I am so thankful my husband Gary and puppy dog Luna and I am safe!!
I wanted to share some photos we took a few hours before the evacuation notice came and the outfit for Halloween I chose this year. I usually like to wear a fun novelty print skirt and this skirt delivered on all levels. The Swamp Monster skirt features a take on the wildly popular Creature from the Black Lagoon. The color is absolutely stunning, a rich teal/turquoise blue and the Swamp Monster has so much character!! I styled the outfit very simply with a matching teal/blue top and shoes along with our teal colored pumpkin, as it is Halloween after all.
A Taste of Italy at Ferrari Carano Winery
Living in gorgeous wine country California we are fortunate to have world-class wineries so close by and today we visited the exquisite Ferrari Carano winery. The drive was beautiful; it was sunny and warm with a breeze. We past so many lush vineyards and stopped to take pictures along the way. Harvest season has started in Sonoma County but there are still full grape clusters hanging on the vines and they are a wonderful sight to see.
Ferrari Carano Winery is about 30 miles from our home and is located in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley in Healdsburg, CA. The winery is known for their Chardonnays, Sauvignon Blancs as well as reds and desert wines. Let me just say we were in complete delight when we pulled onto the property. The winery looks just like an Italian villa with grand arches, lots of architectural and ornamental details, beautiful windows and is surrounded by stunning ornamental gardens. There are several types of tastings offered, one of which can be experienced in the underground Enoteca Reserve Tasting Bar and you can see a remarkable barrel room on your way down and then there is the II Terrazzo terrace that overlooks the stunning formal gardens and vineyard offering tastings as well.
The 5 Best Instagramable Spots in Sonoma County California
From world-class wineries to Alfred Hitchcock and Charlie Brown, the Northern California towns of Sebastopol, Santa Rosa, Bodega Bay, Healdsburg, and Petaluma are like no other, each with their own personality and character. Below are my top 5 Best Instagramable spots of Sonoma County Calfornia and some travel tips and hot spots too.
15 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 50 miles from San Francisco is the quaint town of Sebastopol. You will find several antique shops, art galleries, artisan restaurants and bakeries in Sebastopol. Tourists flock to this little gem of a town and the atmosphere is very laid back and unpretentious. Locals that live in Sebastopol know they are blessed and are as friendly as can be. Florence Avenue is a cute section with cottages and lots of neat sculptures that decorate the yards known as junk art and I will do a post about that soon. But I want to share these two super cute blue walls located at the intersection of Bodega Ave. and Edman Way. The wall with the bees and the wall with the colorful pipes are Instagram perfect!! Shops and restaurants are very close by and there are those fabulous junk art sculptures all over making for even more Instagram pic goodness.
Sebastopol also has the campus of a tech and learning company O’Reilly Media that has gardens and grounds open to the community. You can drive up and take a lovely nature walk and snap Instragramable pics on your adventure. There is a new trendy section in Sebastopol called The Barlow and there are some cool metal corrugated walls, lots of artisan restaurants, shops, and communal areas that make for great Instagramable pics. Have your breakfast, lunch or dinner while you explore. Also the super neat old Purina factory and feed store is across the street and has some a mural and lots of country charm that would be great for Instagram pics.
Fly Me to the Moon with Pinup Girl Mary Blair Planes Boarder Print Skirt
Spring is nearly here and that means it is time for adventure!! This is the perfect skirt for travel as it has a fun boarder print of airplanes and the brilliant blue color really compliments this design.
For this photo shoot hubby and I ventured into the cute northern California town of Sebastopol. Sebastopol has a bunch of history and is a perfect destination for day-trippers. Sebastopol is about 70 miles north of San Francisco. I love all the wall murals in Sebastopol and they also have some fun mid-century modern architecture. We also stopped in at the Sonoma Country airport for some pics too.
