Monticello Antiques in Portland Oregon

While I am in Portland, Oregon this week for the holidays I had planned on visiting Monticello Antique Marketplace on Stark Street. I had heard of Monticello Antiques but never could find time for a visit. This morning we had some snow so plans were changed, I hopped into the car and looked up Monticello Antiques on the new Google Maps iPhone app and the voice guided me the eight miles to their front door.

Monticello Antique Marketplace is located on busy Start Street in SE Portland within a mix of businesses and houses and is a 100 multi-dealer mall. I parked around the block and walked through the front doors. My eyes are taking in the lovely vintage Christmas goodies and collectibles as I start my treasure hunting. Readers to my blog know I am ‘crazy 4’ vintage holiday items and Monticello Antiques is over flowing with Christmas items!! The merchandising and displays are outstanding at this mall. The festive holiday feel is strong and lots of shoppers abound.

With over 10,000 sqft, this place is large and has a restaurant too. I work my way through each and every booth. Staff are very friendly and the place is well lit so looking for treasure is not a challenge. The mall even provides hand-held baskets like you find in grocery stores for shoppers to collect their goodies. I find a few gorgeous vintage 1940s Christmas Putz houses (for my twin sister) and lot and lots of vintage Shiny Brite Christmas ornaments as well as Holt Howard Christmas Santas and even vintage linens. One booth has an amazing vintage camera display and other booths have lots of ‘this and that’. I would say if vintage collectibles and furniture are your thing than don’t miss out on a visit to this mall.

Overall, I am very impressed with Monticello Antique Marketplace. You are drawn in and encouraged to wander and hunt and the displays the booths have are amazingly beautiful. You will enjoy yourself and find many goodies and treasures too!!

Pumpkin Patch, Apples and Antiques Too

We are having a heat wave with temperatures in the mid 90s, talk about a late summer here in Sonoma County!! On the way to work we pass this amazing country harvest stand and they have filled it with pumpkins, squashes and apples and I believe they grow these on their farm. The site is really spectacular. I am looking forward to an open-house/parking lot sale at the local antique multi-dealer mall in town ‘Antique Society’ that is happening this coming weekend so I will certainly post some pics up about that. There have been lots of church sales advertised and coming up are the Christmas Bazaar’s I keep seeing signs for so I hope to get a chance to stop by and see what there is. I have been finding lots and lots of vintage Christmas decorations and figurines by Napco, Holt Howard, and Lefton and hope to one day have a room in my house that I can keep decked out for the holidays all year long as the magic of these vintage Christmas decorations just keeps me smiling, I love them!!  How about you all? Are you ready for Halloween and then of course the Holidays are right around the corner.

Shopping San Francisco For Vintage Goodies

It took a drive into San Francisco this weekend and then some hunting through some of the most bizarre vintage shops (I will post later about the shops) but it turned out to be a good weekend for finding some lovely vintage goodies.  I am thrilled with this German made Royal Crown lady teapot, I have not see one like her before and think she is so charming and reminds me of the vintage half doll pincushions in a way. Anyone that knows me, knows I simply cannot pass anything up made by PY and this little cutie is made by PY and is a wall plaque/planter and she holds her peach and makes me smile. I am glad that some vendors are starting to put out some vintage Christmas collectibles and I was really fortunate to find these 1958 Holt Howard Pixie Girl Candleholders (complete set) and this 1950s Relpo Santa Claus planter…I just love the vintage Christmas decorations from the 50s. Did you go thrifting, junking, treasure hunting this weekend? What did you find? These vintage goodies are in our Crazy4Me shop.
