Continuing our search for the best pizza in San Francisco we are trying Luisa’s Restaurant Wine Bar Since 1959 right in Little Italy today. This is an old-school small restaurant with photos of Sophia Loren decorating the walls, bottles of limoncello on shelves and counters, and so many homemade favorites on the menu (and being ordered by many people) like pizza, spaghetti, gnocchi, meat balls, linguine, pollo piccata, cannelloni and so much more. We were here to try the gourmet Neapolitan thin crust pizza today as we continue the search for the best pizza in San Francisco but these pasta dishes being brought out from the kitchen looked seriously delicious so we might need to do a bonus blog post of one or two of them.
Pizzas here are gourmet Neapolitan and thin crust and baked in a pizza oven not wood-fired. We ordered the Quattro Stagione that has cheese, margherita, pepperoni, and meatballs. Quattro Stagioni in Italian means the four seasons and it translates to dividing a pizza into four sections and toppings can be any combo. We didn’t order a salad today but had Americano coffees instead as we waited….. We had been walking up and down the hills of San Francisco and were a little tired so the coffee was a nice pick me up and was made from freshly ground espresso beans.[Read more…]
