Pinup Rockabilly Style at the 2016 Petaluma Antique Faire

Yasmina Greco Pinup Rockabilly

This year it sure felt like the Petaluma Spring Antique Faire came earlier as I remember it happening in May but, no, it came as scheduled at the end of April. It was a breezy, cool, sunny day so it was really perfect weather for such an event.

I decided to wear my pinup girl rockabilly red polka dot circle skirt by Hemet and sold at Inked Boutique. I am wearing the XL but this skirt has part elastic in the waistband and is stretchy so if you want a firmer fit then I’d suggest sizing down. I wanted the skirt to be the main focal point so I added a simple white tank and red cardigan. I had my hair simple and tied with a sweet white sheer bow. I did have my winged eyes and red lip and for antiquing I like a purse that can worn cross-body so I got to wear my pretty Poppy flower Coach bag that my husband gave me as a gift a while back. I was ready!! I will say that folks were so sweet to me and kept telling me how great I looked. The bright colors of this outfit are sure eye-catching!! Folks appreciate the Pinup look.

We got to the fair mid-morning. It was in full swing. The day was gorgeous. We walked the show, went from booth to booth, vendor to vendor. The fair has something for everyone and takes up several blocks in downtown Petaluma. Some of our favorite were not at the show this year, and we wondered why…. we always look forward to visiting the booths of our favorite vendors but, not this year. There seemed to be a whole lot more shoppers than in years past so that is great for the show. A lot of dogs too, the show does bring out folks and their dogs so you constantly have to dodge baby carriages and dogs. Since the weather was so perfect I’m guessing that is why so many more shoppers came out. Dealers seemed to have an abundance of vintage garden ornamentals for sale this year, it felt like everywhere you looked there were iron fences and metal sculptures mixed with crates and plaster yard ornaments.

We did end up with a neat vintage 50s metal fan with turquoise base, and it works!! I also got a lovely vintage flamingo planter for my ever-growing collection of vintage flamingos.   We had a nice lunch of fish and chips at a super cute little place a block or so by the show. My hubby was so sweet and snapped pics of me throughout the faire. Next show is the Fall show in September so we will be back. Right now I have a lot of projects I am juggling with modeling gigs, magazine shoots and of course work but I really want to try and get up to Portland for the big July antique show and spend a couple days visiting my twin sister and her family. Spring has been busy and I will post up soon all the magazine I have had the opportunity to appear in as I have been getting a lot of questions from you all. Hope you all are doing great!!

Things to know when antiquing in Petaluma

Petaluma Antiques

We went to Petaluma, CA for a Sunday of antiquing. It was so warm. I was excited as I got to wear a new dress of mine, the Dolores Doll in Atomic Flamingo print from Collectif Clothing London.  I loved the fit and that it has a vintage 50s circle skirt and lovely pink flamingos amidst a pattern of atomic mid-century modern starburst, tiki and fruits. I added a cherry necklace and red cardigan/belt and my wicker purse.

Petaluma has some great antique shops, bookstores, and the downtown area is really clean, there are lots of restaurants and coffee shops and it’s a really nice place for families to spend time at.

We went to Vintage Bank Antiques on Petaluma Blvd. N. and it’s an old bank turned into a multi-dealer mall with lots of high end items and paintings along with some collectibles. Summer Cottage Antiques on Kentucky Street is a cute shop with lots of shabby chic and chalk painted furniture items. White Rose Antiques is another fun shop and it is located on the corner of H Street and Petaluma Blvd. and they have a lot of pottery and glass and also a nice selection of lamps. We stopped in at Sienna Antiques on Petaluma Bld. N. and it has a European flair of items from Italy and France with a nice selection of furniture, sculptures, painting, lighting, porcelains and pottery.

Amazing Finds at the 2014 Petaluma Antique Fair

photo 5Today was the annual Spring antique fair in the wine country town of Petaluma. The event is all out doors and features around 180 dealer booths and over 8,000 shoppers!! The fair has something for everyone from estate jewelry, furniture, linens, art, kitchenware, vintage décor, tin toys, Mid-Century Modern, books and a variety of collectibles. The weather called for rain and it sprinkled a bit but all in all the weather was really great; partly sunny, breezy, mid 60s.

We arrived a little after 9:30am and the fair already had a steady flow of shoppers. This is one of my favorite fairs as the dealers usually are friendly, negotiable on their prices and they offer to package up your goodies too.

photo 7Below are some pictures of the fair and pictures of the treasures we found. I couldn’t believe when I came upon the antique Majolica oyster plate or the PY Ucagco bluebird wall plaques, the pretty little vintage Christmas headvase, the adorable little boy vintage egg timer, the vintage Bradley pink sea horse wall plaques and even the little Art Deco Golliwog perfume bottle… wow! I still can’t believe my good fortune to find all these treasures!! My husband too scored some mint condition vintage cameras from a collector that has over 500 vintage cameras in his personal collection. I am so thankful to have a husband that enjoys antique fairs and antiquing in general with me as it is a great way to spend time together and really enjoy each other’s company!!

Sienna Antiques in Petaluma

What a nice afternoon to stop into Sienna Antiques shop in Petaluma, CA. The shop is located in the main downtown sqaure next to lots of shops and restaurants. When you walk inside you notice it is a large shop with a 2nd story floor. The shop has higher-end pieces and lots of large statement making furniture items and mirrors. You get the feeling that items are very Italian and French and would certainly inspire a gorgeous room in any house. Prices are high too but, you are buying qulaity pieces. Upstairs is an interesting area where it looks like custom high-end kitchens are designed using antique furniture for cainets and islands and the kitchen showrooom is HUGE and will leave you speechless. Come on down to Sienna the next time you are in Petaluma.
