Weekend Junking, Antiques, and Collectibles

It has been a rainy start to Spring here in gorgeous wine country and the vineyards are already starting to bloom so by next month it will be green and amazing. Not too many Estate sales yet or garage sales but ‘here & there’ we have been finding some treasures and enjoying the hunt. Pictured here are some recent finds and included are some Hula themed vintage ‘Harveys Lake Tahoe’ bowls, a weird bright orange one-eyed Tiki mug, some gorgeous Italian pottery items of an abstract ‘Oregano’ pot and hand painted – artist signed fish platter, an adorable Napco 1950s pink poodle momma and puppies, sweet vintage bluet bird salt and pepper shakers and a charming pair of vintage blue bird candle huggers and the neat vintage set of a drum and cannon salt and pepper shaker. So many people collect salt and pepper shakers and vintage blue birds and they are so hard to keep in stock as everyone is into collecting them and who can blame them as the blue birds are really so darn cute!! So, did you go junking or antiquing this weekend, what did you find, I’d love to hear form you.

Vintage Christmas and 1950s Blue Birds

I will admit that lately I have had quite an obsession with vintage Christmas collectibles and of course vintage blue birds. The blue birds all started with a 1950s blue bird sugar jar I acquired more than a year ago and she was so cute with her big eyes, sweet face and flower in her hair that she was nicknamed ‘sugar chick’. I sold that sugar chick and then as time went on I really missed her and wished I would have kept her thus starting the obsession with finding another one. Over the year I was able to slowly find pieces from that same line and have managed to get my sugar chick back, matching creamer, teapot, and just this week the salt and pepper shakers. I have seen a cookie jar that belongs to the set so, I will keep an eye out for that. I am including a picture of my blue bird salt and pepper shakers and the blue bird teapot.

Now, onto vintage Christmas. I have always loved vintage Christmas collectibles from 1940s-1960s. The collectibles from the era might be referred to as ‘kitschy’ by many folks but to me, they have loads of charm and add that ‘special something’ to the holidays. So this year, I made sure to start my collecting early in the summer and have been able to add some amazing pieces (I will add pics soon) that include the vintage Lefton Candy Cane Kids, Lefton Christmas Girl Bells, Napco Christmas Headvases, Napco  Angel Figurines, Napco Shopper Girls, Holt Howard Christmas  Salt and Pepper Shakers, Holt Howard Pixies and of course the Lipper Mann Noel Candle Holders.  Here I have included a picture of a vintage Christmas Lipper Mann Santa Claus & Mrs. Claus Sugar and Creamer set; I love their giant red noses and sweet faces.

What are you all collecting these days? I would love to hear from you!!

1950s Lefton & Norcrest Bluebird Collectibles

I just love the adorable Lefton Bluebirds and the Norcrest Bluebirds. These 1950s Bluebird collectibles were all hand painted in Japan and still retain their original charm with their adorable faces, pink cheeks and flowers in their hair. These little fellows are sure to brighten any home and any kitchen!! While out and about this past weekend I came across these fantastic Lefton Bluebird and Norcrest Bluebirds. I hope when I leave next week for my Pacific Northwest vacation that I will come across some of these goodies!! The Bluebirds here can be found HERE.
