I have been wanting to write this blog post for a while now and it was actually my husband Gary that came up with the idea of why don’t we get dressed up for quarantine dinner instead of sitting around in the same athleisure we’ve been wearing for months and make dinner an experience.
Once we went into lock-down, we, like most other folks in California, didn’t really leave the house except for essentials. We got comfortable in our athleisure and even eating dinner on the couch. So I actually got really excited at the idea of dressing up for quarantine dinner. Being a modern day Pinup I used to spend a lot of time on styling my outfits, doing my hair and makeup and making sure I had just the right accessories for dinner out with my husband or a day out in the city. But, dressing for quarantine dinners doesn’t have to mean a very fancy outfit and ladies can wear a dress or skirt and guys can put on a nice shirt or sweater. Putting some effort in your dinner appearance really goes a long way with the family, your spouse, or significant other and instantly makes everyone perk-up and emotions uplift almost immediately and this is the time we could all use some uplifted feelings.
Here are some of my favorite quarantine dinner outfits over the past several months and I even got to pull out my vintage Pyrex and I can tell you that everything really does taste better when it is cooked in vintage Pyrex!! I felt like the Marvelous Mrs. Maisal!! I am using my super rare Australian Turquoise Pyrex Picket Fence or White Spears pattern, my Turquoise Snowflake Pyrex, my Pink Scroll Pyrex, and even my red Catherineholm Lotus Bowl that are all from the 1950s-1960s and are mid-century modern. Not all our meals were fancy, we sure do enjoy a pizza or even takeout but eating it in an outfit you spent a little time getting yourself into really does make it all taste yummy and it creates memories too!!
