There’s something incredibly romantic about the open road. The scenic beauty, the freedom, the adventure. This 4th of July weekend, my sweet hubby Gary and I decided to immerse ourselves in just that romance, exploring the breathtaking Northern California’s Highway 101.

Encircled by lush vineyards and the intoxicating beauty of the wine country, this route is an adventurous blend of stunning nature and charming towns filled with hidden gems in the form of antiques shops and vintage home decor boutiques. Our journey was a fantastic one – the perfect blend of relaxation, sightseeing, and of course, treasure hunting for antiques and collectibles.

Our itinerary included three must-visit places: Gin’gilli’s Vintage Home in Geyserville, Mill Street Antiques in Cloverdale, and Country Porch Antiques in Hopland. So buckle up and get ready for a recounting of our treasure hunt along the beautiful highway!

Gin’gilli’s Vintage Home, Geyserville

Our first stop is the quaint town of Geyserville, home to the delightful Gin’gilli’s Vintage Home. As soon as you step inside this charming shop, you’ll find yourself transported to a bygone era. Its collection boasts an eclectic mix of antiques, salvage, furniture, vintage cameras and vinyl, vintage toys and collectibles, jewelry, vintage furniture, crafted creations, and distinctive home decor that evokes a sense of nostalgia. Every piece tells a story, from rustic farmhouse tables to Victorian-era curiosities and retro-inspired home accessories.

Whether you’re searching for a unique centerpiece for your dining table or an antique mirror to complete your vintage-themed living room, Gin’gilli’s Vintage Home has got you covered. And if you need help navigating their vast inventory, the friendly staff are knowledgeable and eager to assist.

Should you find yourself feeling peckish after a delightful shopping spree, you’re in for a treat. Right next door stands Catelli’s, a distinguished Italian restaurant of considerable repute. Its culinary prowess has not gone unnoticed, earning a coveted spot on Food Network’s beloved show, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. The irresistible allure of this local gem seems to captivate both residents and tourists alike, making it an unmissable culinary destination.

Mill Street Antiques, Cloverdale

Back on the road, we head north to Cloverdale, where we find the next shop on our list: Mill Street Antiques. This shop is more thrift store with thrift store vibes and houses a vast array of dishes, collectibles, toys, and books, and much more. The charm of Mill Street Antiques lies in the thrill of the hunt. Every corner you turn reveals yet another treasure, each with its own unique history waiting to be discovered. The bonus of this store is that it has air conditioning!!

This shop is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, not only for its extensive collection but also for the warm and welcoming atmosphere. You’ll find yourself losing track of time as you browse through their vast collections, falling in love with the charm and character of items from the past.

Country Porch Antiques, Hopland

Our last stop of the day is the picturesque town of Hopland, where we find Country Porch Antiques. This delightful shop is a true haven for antique enthusiasts, featuring a wide array of items from various periods and styles.

Country Porch Antiques specializes in American country and primitive antiques, vintage collectibles, and one-of-a-kind home decor items. The pieces here evoke a homely, comfortable feel that speaks to simpler times.

You’ll find everything from vintage kitchenware and Pyrex, jewelry, collectibles, vintage clothing and vinyl, old farm tools to folk art and handcrafted furniture. We really enjoyed this mulit-dealer shop and were pleasantly surprised at how large it was. The staff’s knowledge and passion for these items add to the overall shopping experience, making Country Porch Antiques a must-visit location.

In conclusion, a journey along Highway 101 in Northern California isn’t just about enjoying the road and the scenic beauty—it’s about the joy of discovering hidden treasures, meeting new people, and forming a deeper appreciation for history and craftsmanship.

Whether you’re an experienced antiquer or new to the game, this trip will be a day well spent. So start planning your journey, and let the antique treasure hunt begin!
