It was a beautiful sunny weekend but windy and cold. Dressing in layers is always a good idea when antiquing as well as bringing a great tote bag to carry your treasures home in. I had a comfy warm coat on; my favorite new tote bag and my Hell Bunny pinup dress so I was feeling fantastic for a day of antiquing.
It was a beautiful day in Santa Rosa, CA, with the sun shining and temperatures in the mid-60s. After spending a lot of time at home recovering from a shoulder injury, I finally felt well enough to venture out for some antiquing. We browsed through a few thrift stores without much luck until we arrived at Whistle Stop Antiques, a charming multi-dealer mall bustling with shoppers. I’ve visited this shop before and often find something special, and today did not disappoint.
I discovered three charming vintage mermaids with unique, intricate facial features that caught my eye. The smaller ones are signed “Doris King,” while the larger mermaid bears the initials “SL.” Along with the mermaids, I found an adorable vintage Valentine couple, a pair of anthropomorphic fish salt and pepper shakers, a lovely table runner with embroidered poodles, and a delightful vintage Lefton Miss Priss pitcher.
We also spotted some Bakelite radios that I’d love to collect, though their price tags in the thousands might require a lotto win first! I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend as much as I did.
