The Castle – Visiting Ledson Winery in California

January 8, 2020 By: Fan

Living in gorgeous wine country California we are fortunate to have world-class wineries so close by and today we visited the exquisite Ledson Winery in the heart of Sonoma Valley wine country on HWY 12. The drive was beautiful; it was sunny and cool having just sprinkled in the morning. The vineyards are essentially bare sticks this time of year but still gorgeous to take in and it was a beautiful drive.

You can’t miss the Ledson Winery also known as The Castle!! It is a 16,000 sqft Gothic French-Normandy style winery and tasting room. The Castle is absolutely stunning!! Ample parking is provided and the grounds are exquisite with manicured lawns, trees, and florals. Restrooms are easily accessible and are also in the style of The Castle in a separate building right by the parking lot making it very convenient for those who drove a long distance. A gorgeous fountain is a focal point in the front and imagining what springtime is like here when the roses and flowers are blooming, a sweet smell in the air and the vineyards are lush with grapes is surely a dream.  We will certainly be back in the Spring and will post photos for you all.

Ledson Winery produces 70+ plus wines including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Barbera, Malbec, Meritage, and Rosé to name a few with prices ranging from $18-$250. They have a wine club that sounds incredible full of options so you can select what works for you as well as offer a variety of tastings on the property from private (we must experience this) to several rooms inside The Castle which is architecturally as stunning as the outside and include fireplaces, lovely hard wood floors, crown moldings, gorgeous chandeliers and a breathtaking staircase where the interior feels incredibly luxe but presented in a warm and welcoming way. I promise the next time we visit that we will include photos of the interiors but for now you can view here at – Ledson Winery

The staff at Ledson Winery is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and so polite. We were welcomed right in and offered a variety of tastings as well as a stroll through the marketplace where we could put a picnic together to enjoy on the property and there is a variety of wines, cheeses, sandwiches, soda pops, and selections of fine olive oils, mustards, desert sauces and more. We left with these fabulous olive oils and sauces. I already cooked with the Meyer Lemon olive oil and it is truly scrumptious and now I am excited to try our Persian Lime olive oil!! We also left with some chocolate and caramel sauces.

We spent time exploring the immaculate grounds and gardens and I wore my Sourpuss Clothing dress in the Haunted Diamond Veronica Print in my standard 2X size and it fit my curves beautifully. It was a little chilly so I added a cardigan. The patrons at the winery were so complimentary of my outfit.  It was such a stunning afternoon spent with my sweet hubby Gary in this truly magical location.

Ledson Winery would make a great day trip if you were visiting San Francisco, as it is approx. 50 miles north of the city. Ledson Winery really does have something for everyone from an incredible wine selection and wine tasting experience for every budget as well as a market place where you can put a picnic together to enjoy or stroll the lovely grounds and enjoy the architecture. You will enjoy your time at Ledson Winery. Let us know when you visit and we’d love to see your photos too!! You can read more here about the history of Ledson Winery and the incredible families, it is a beautiful story.
