Have a blast while making memories of your trip to San Francisco at the Museum of 3D Illusions. Located in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf right next to Pier 39 is the Museum of 3D Illusions where hand painted 3D wall murals feature several iconic San Francisco landmarks and hot-spots along with a variety of additional murals that await your poses. Get ready for an incredible experience!!
With it’s primo location right in the middle of San Francisco you’ll find lots of parking spots and hotel options along with numerous restaurants and coffee shops. The Museum of 3D Illusions does have lockers so if you happen to have bags and coats you can put them in your private locker while you experience the location.
My hubby Gary and I visited the Museum of 3D Illusions on Saturday. The location is very clean and light and bright. We were so impressed with the staff as they were incredibly polite and helpful and someone was always available to help out the visitors by giving them tips on how to capture the best angels to even taking your photos. You can rent a tripod if you’d prefer to take your own pictures. Also, you can have a VIP experience where one of the staff will accompany you and your guests and take all your photos (more details on the website). As you make your way around the location you’ll notice images on the floor to help guide you in taking the best pictures.
We took a lot of photos but here are a couple of my very favorites!! My hubby did such a great job taking these photos. Here I am in an iconic San Francisco cable car and ‘Oh No’ the floor is splitting open!!
It’s terrifying to find yourself hanging off the side of a skyscraper!!
Check out this view!! A magic carpet ride over the Golden Gate Bridge.

We had so much fun at the Museum of 3D Illusions and appreciated just how helpful the staff was. There were several folks and families enjoying the location and waiting a couple minutes to take our turn was no problem. Kids of all ages will definitely enjoy themselves. Even spending date night at the location would be so much fun!
The location is like having a selfie installation with one-of-a-kind artwork and you can really have a blast while capturing memories. You can even share your incredible pics on social media and I bet you’ll get a great response!!
Oooops! Sorry for causing the accident!
There are many murals so be prepared to sit down, lay down, stand, twist and turn to get the best shots!! Note that there are no restrooms at the location but there are restaurants and coffee shops close by as well as the Hotel Zephyr next door (a favorite of ours) and they have restrooms you can use.
We can’t wait to go back to the Museum of 3D Illusions and are planning that now…. There are so many more murals we need to take our pictures in front of!!
