Yasmina Greco - Work Wear
Yasmina Greco – Work Wear with a Retro Twist

As a woman in tech in San Francisco it’s easy to fall into the world of free conference t-shirts and hoodies but I prefer colorful outfits that embrace my personality and I describe my style as classic with a retro twist.

My wardrobe staples are dresses and skirts that nip you in at the waist, cardigans and colorful accessories like vintage purses, shoes and jewelry. I add a brooch to tops and dresses so my cleavage is office appropriate and my outfits are generally very comfortable and effortless so dressing as a curvy women is easy with these wardrobe staples and I am ready for meetings and working with my global team.

In-n-Out Burger San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf – Yasmina Greco

Hello from San Francisco!! I get asked a lot what the must do things are in San Francisco so for this post I am keeping it to the top 5 things to do in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf. First stop is always lunch at In-n-Out Burger right on the Wharf. Hubby and I always get the Double-Double with fries and a drink.

Next stop is the iconic Fisherman’s Wharf sign and it is right in the center surrounded by restaurants, shops, and of course the San Francisco bay with Alcatraz right there in background. I have written another post all about our fun times in the city and you can read more here.

A Day in San Francisco’s Little Italy and China Town

Golden Gate Bridge

We are taking a day trip into San Francisco today. Hubby and I both needed a little adventure with yummy food and lots of sights to see. I knew we would be doing a good amount of walking but I still wanted my pinup style to shine so I opted for my Cherry Velvet dress that’s a great turquoise blue color with lots of lush red cherries, my red cardigan and pair of Betsey Johnson tennis shoes. I received so many compliments on my dress!!

The drive down from wine country was pretty with lots of sunshine. Even after all these years of driving across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, I still get a thrill. The day was super clear and there were lots of sailboats in the bay and you could see Alcatraz clearly. We headed up to North Beach, San Francisco’s Little Italy for lunch. We stopped by Calzones, one of our favorite restaurants that has lots of tables and chairs out front and excellent people watching. Hubby ordered the pepperoni pizza made with a sauce of the best San Marzano tomatoes and artisan pepperoni. I ordered the lasagna. Calzone’s makes delicious food and their portions are big. My lasagna was loaded with meat sauce and a perfect amount of filling to pasta ratio, it was absolutely delicious.

After a hearty lunch we stopped next door at Biordi for their amazing hand-painted Italian pottery. The vast amount of styles and colors the majolica comes in is breathtaking. From dish sets and place settings, to vases, urns and tables and more, there is so much to look at and take in. Biorid’s is a must for anyone that loves Italian pottery.

Polka Dots, Curves in Wine Country

Yasmina Greco Polka Dot Windsor

I wanted to share some pics with you all from my weekend in wine country. We are so fortunate to live in beautiful wine country California and have really great weather pretty much all year. This past weekend was so lovely, sunny, and cool with a little wind. Hubby and I headed to the quaint towns of Windsor and Healdsburg about 70 miles North of San Francisco.

I had a completely different outfit planned for this excursion but it didn’t work out well for my curves…. we will save that story for another time and another curvy blog post. I had seen this polka dot top in a magazine and being the lover of polka dots that I am, I had to have it. I was so happy to see the blouse come in plus size as it would need to fit my curves and it is a wrap top so I knew it would fit my bust and I was not disappointed when it arrived. The blouse had such a luxurious feel to it and it was made really well. Usually plus size curvy clothing from department stores are not all that well made and do not usually have a shape so I was pleasantly surprised what fast fashion from Macy’s delivered. Details here for Polka dot blouse.

Visiting Treasure Island Flea Market in San Francisco

Treasure Island Flea

I had been hearing about a neat flea market on Treasure Island since arriving in the bay area 2 ½ years ago. We went today. Treasure Island is right across the bay from downtown San Francisco. The view is stunning! A flea market sets up on Treasure Island the last weekend of each month and there are usually 300+ vendors and lots of food trucks with a park area for kids and dog to play s and of course the San Francisco bay and the city views….lots of fresh sea air too!

We found parking pretty fast and started following the crowds. We paid the $3 admission fee. Lots of booths. Lots of jewelry booths (everything from origami styles to the made in China beads). Lots of  hand-made soap and lotion booths, some food booths (mustards and honey). There were a few booths that had items for dogs that were clothing, leaches and collars, food and water bowls. Booths that had a mix of junk and vintage collectibles too. Booths selling one of a kind camera straps, belts and picture frames, some shabby chic too. I really liked a couple booths that were selling clothing as they had vintage trailers/vintage caravans and even vintage busses converted into showrooms! These vintage trailers really had a lot of charm!!

Dealers at most the booths were pretty grumpy. No one said ‘hello’ no one was happy to see you. A couple booths had some vintage Christmas items I was drawn to but the dealers were not interested in bargaining. One booth had a box of vintage pinecone miniature hand made ornaments with mica from the 1940s (so cute) and the price was $25 for the box so I offered $20 and the lady took it out of my hands and said ‘No”. I was hoping she would come back with $22 or something but no, she just pulled the item right out of my hands! I had a couple similar experiences at other booths. So, if you come to the Treasure Island flea market, be prepared for grumpy dealers that will not bargain with you. I am sure it depends on the day or the dealer, but, after multiple grumpy dealers and no bargaining, we were a little disappointed.  I didn’t buy anything. My husband found a vintage Polaroid camera for his collection.

All in all, the day was sunny, breezy, and gorgeous at 64 degrees. Had a nice drive to Treasure Island and after 2 hours wondering the flea market we drove back to beautiful wine country. Hope your weekend is going great!!
