Today’s post is about the most famous reindeer of all – Rudolph. The reindeer with the shiny red nose that leads Santa Claus on his sleigh ride around the world in just one night. Rudolph has been sharing his charm with us all since 1939. It wasn’t too long after, that Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer would become a part of Christmas for families all over the world. If you are interested in collecting Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer then keep reading for the best tips!!
Welcome to the 2021 vintage Christmas collecting series. This is our second post in our series for 2021. Our first post is all about Holt Howard Starry Eyed Santa and you can find it here. If you’d like to review our 2020 six-part guide you can find that here and learn about vintage Christmas collectibles from the 1950s-1960s.
Rudolph was created by Robert L. May, who worked as a copywriter for the Montgomery Ward department store chain and published the story in a brochure for promotional purposes in 1939. The store began preparing for Christmas almost one year earlier when they hired May to write a Christmas story that could be purchased by customers.
Christmas giftware, decorations, and ceramics were at their peak of cuteness (my opinion) in the 1950s-1960s. And it was George Zolton Lefton who founded the Lefton China Company in 1939 in Chicago, Illinois and produced many items from dinnerware sets to Christmas decorations and everything in between and, that includes the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer set.
Lefton’s Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer set includes:
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer bowl
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer mug
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer salt and pepper shakers
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer planter (Rudolph’s nose lights up)
Pizza is a true staple of any Italian meal. But with all the options out there, how do you know which one to choose? Look no further than Campo Fina in Healdsburg, CA for some delicious pizza. Campo Fina is located in lovely Healdsburg, in Northern San Francisco. Healdsburg is a bougie tourist hot spot in wine country and it is great for people watching, lots of wine tasting opportunities, a delightful central square surrounded by shops, boutique hotels, and restaurants. At Campo Fina you can choose from multiple pizza toppings such as smoked pecorino, sautéed chard, Calabrian chili’s, spicy sausage or fennel sausage, smoked pork belly and more! This place is perfect for tourists looking to try something new on their trip to up to wine country.
Gary and I just wrapped an epic photoshoot and were looking for a late lunch/early dinner spot and decided to try Camp Fina. We had seen this back-alley eatery packed with a line on a couple of our trips to Healdsburg over the summer but today we decided to go and experience it. Campo Fina has a large covered back patio complete with a bar, wood-fired pizza oven and pizza prep shack with windows and you can watch Pizzaiolo stretching dough and making pizzas. There is even a bocce court. The tables are all made from reclaimed wood and the patio roof is covered with lush grape vines all over the top, so it gives the feeling of being in Italy in the summertime for alfresco dining.
We didn’t have a reservation but were seated right away. It was an incredibly hot day so we were happy to be in the shade with fans and a breeze blowing through. The staff was very efficient and attentive. We looked over the menu and could see they had a nice selection of antipasti, salads, pastas, and pizzas. Being the meat-eaters that we are, we ended up going with the Pizza North End that has mozzarella, fennel salami, spicy coppa, onions, peppers, arugula, and ended up replacing the onions, peppers, and arugula with pepperoni. We also ordered a Cesar salad to share and some Coca-Cola’s but learned that Campo Fina does not have traditional Coca-Cola but the “Italian style” Coca-Cola, so I ordered a diet and Gary ordered a regular. The drinks tasted actually really good, and Gary’s was made with real cane sugar….. just don’t find that anymore.
Salad came out and it was large and yummy. Even had large croutons with anchovy slices. Lettuce was very crispy too. As we waited for our pizza the Pizzaiolo was kept very busy with lots of pizza orders, and it was very interesting to watch how he made them. We stat right across from the wood-fired pizza oven and it was very hot!!
Our pizza was served, and we were ready. The first thing we noticed is the good amount of topping. There were char bubbles from the wood-fired oven, and it smelled delicious. As we started to eat the pizza we noticed the crust first and that the center was floppy, bot as crisp as we originally expected. The outer crust was firm and crispy just not the center. There was plenty of cheese too, but the pizza was not at all greasy, even with all the meats. Also, this pizza did not have any sauce but somehow it worked. All the meats and the cheese were very tasty and the coppa salami ad a nice spicy bite to it. We enjoyed the pizza and salad.
When you are in the mood for pizza, look no further than Campo Fina in Healdsburg. If you are looking for a delicious pizza with great ambiance to match, this is the place to go! Located in North San Francisco wine country, Healdsburg, CA.
Let’s rate Campo Fina on a scale of 1 (being lowest) to 5 (being highest):
Pinup Girl Clothing has outdone themselves again with this beautiful Pinup Couture dress called the Swan Dress in mustard floral. The style reminds me of a glamorous 60s silhouette with the bishop sleeves and peasant top and this one is so good!!
The fabric on this dress is incredible; nice weight stretch crepe and it does not wrinkle!! The bodice is cut close to the body and the A line skirt is incredibly figure flattering for all body types. Being on the curvy side I am wearing my standard 2X size from Pinup Girl Clothing and the dress hugs me in all the right places. The peasant top accommodates a larger bust beautifully. You can wear the dress on the shoulder or off the shoulder very easily and it never feels like it will slip down. The dress is very well made and you cannot only see how high the quality is but when you wear it you can see how it fits every curve perfectly.

June is here and that means summertime!! I am really looking forward to summer and the seasonal change and yes, the fun summer dresses too. I like sunshine and warm weather (not too hot) but summertime in California is beautiful, especially where we live in gorgeous wine country. The vineyards are in full-bloom and lush with grapes and one of my favorite things to see are the manicured rows of vineyards on the rolling hills. Well this is a great segway into my post today as my sweet hubby Gary and I went over to the world famous Korbel winery for our photoshoot and everything was starting to bloom for summer.
I was excited to wear the new Art Nouveau jewelry collection from Erstwilder and just love the colors in my Royal Eye peacock colored plume necklace and Royal Eye brooch as they are stunning and really bring out the colors of my dress (dress is from Heart of Haute) and perfect for body positive curvy girls. Erstwilder works with the most talented designers and creators and the new collection really brings out the ornamental style, colors, and curved formats of the Art Nouveau style. Look how amazing my Le Chat Noir brooch is!! Hurry on over to Erstwilder and snap up your favorites because they do sell out fast!!
I had so much fun this past weekend on our latest Pinup photoshoot and the location was the fabulous Korbel Winery Champagne Cellar right here in our backyard of wine country California. Hubby and I were photographing a new collection launching very soon that I can’t talk too much about just yet but I will share more about very soon, and we did an impromptu sneaker shoot too.
Nothing makes me happier than when I can combine a photoshoot with clothing, accessories, and shoes. Specifically an amazing pair of sold out fabulous sneakers. Here are some photos of the brand new silhouette Idealiste 237 Light Monogram Casablanca & New Balance Balance Collaboration. The light Casablanca Paris monogram green, dual stripe midsole detail with pink and green, gold lace tips, and embroidered branding on the heel. Inspiration for the design is said to have come from Casablanca founder and creative director, Charaf Tajer’s French and Moroccan heritage. The shoe sold out immediately but Gary managed to score us a pair!! If you are not familiar with the brand Casablanca Paris they are a brand that combines lux and leisurewear in amazing prints and fabulous colors. Take a look at their fashion shows and lookbooks.
Here are some pictures from our photoshoot and you can see just how perfectly they match my outfit. And yes, you can wear a runway worthy mainstream sneaker with a vintage 50s inspired dress and petticoat!! The shoe is incredibly comfortable too, it felt like I was walking on marshmallow clouds. Amazing style and comfort.
A big thank you to Gary for all these fun and fabulous pictures.
Stay tuned for more blog posts as we have been working on lots of fun and amazing things the past few weeks. Also, for those of you following our Great San Francisco Pizza Tour of 2021 we have lots of new reviews and pizzas to share!!
