Farmhouse Antiques on Sellwood’s Antique Row

Wrapping-up week one of my Pacific Northwest tour, I had a very nice visit at Farmhouse Antiques, located on Portland, Oregon’s Antiques Row in the chic and quirky Sellwood neighborhood. There are over a dozen antiques and collectibles shops among other trendy boutiques and coffee shops that make-up Sellwood’s Antiques Row. Antiques Row is minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Portland and is nestled amongst turn-of-the-century homes, cute cottages and bungalows with lots of blooming trees and colorful Spring flowers this time of year.

Farmhouse Antiques is a charming little shop offering a large selection of antique and vintage quilts, tablecloths, tea towels, postcards, salt and pepper shakers, glassware, 1950s spaghetti poodles, nick-nacks, charming jewelry and so much more! On my visit I walked away with some darling vintage Holt Howard and Lefton pixieware relish jars and pixieware jam jars and a couple Josef Originals figurines (I will post up pictures shortly to share with you all) and I found the pricing at Farmhouse Antiques extremely reasonably especially in comparison to the many other antiques and collectibles shops that make-up Sellwood’s Antiques Row.

Farmhouse Antiques was by far my favorite little shop though the many other shops offered their own specialty items weather your interest is in paintings,  Asian artifcacts, old lace, vintage home hardware from door knobs to chandeliers, and even yard décor.

Be sure you visit Sellwood Antiques Row and Farmhouse Antiques if you find yourself in Portland, Oregon as you will experience a full-day of treasure hunting in a chicly quirky neighborhood with lots of available parking and very friendly people.

Fabulous Finds from Flea Markets In Oregon

Hello everyone! As many of my readers know, I have been spending a bit of time in the Pacific Northwest and have been lucky to visit some truly FABULOUS flea markets and antiques & collectibles shops and I have been posting some of these visits right here to share with you all. Here are a couple neat finds from a recent visit to a NE Portland flea market. These are the coolest Orange Retro dog themed keychains that are handmade and hand etched by a local artisan.

I did find this vintage Lefton crying onion head relish jar, a 1950s  spaghetti poodle dog figurine and this neat vintage 1950s PY Lemon head anthropomorphic salt and pepper shaker set.  If you are interested to know more about these items visit here.

Main Street Collectors Mall & Soda Fountain

Gorgeous day in Milwaukie, Oregon. Stopped in to visit Collector’s Mall on Main Street and their famous soda fountain. I have never been in collectibles shop with a soda fountain let alone soooo many toys and lunchboxes! Collector’s Mall is a pretty big place located right in the heart of old-town Main Street in Milwaukie, Oregon that is stuffed with toys, comics, records, lunch boxes, Star Wars memorabilia and as the lady who was ringing up my purchases said “this place if filled with so much crap”! I found some really cute items and it is NO exaggeration when I say I really had to dig and hunt for my 3 finds that consist of two Josef Originals figurines (a 4 year old Josef Original Birthday Angel and a Josef Original May Birth Month Figurine, along with a set of Miller Studio Chalkware Seahorse, Starfish and Sea Shell wall plaques).  I had a good time and urge you collectors out there to stop in for a visit if you are in the town of Milwaukie, Oregon as you may have to really dig and hunt but I am sure you walk out with some great treasure!

Vintage Josef Originals Figurines

I recently added a post about my antiquing jaunt in Aurora, Oregon and want to show you some of my neat finds. I was able to score a couple of really pretty vintage Josef Originals figurines! Here is a Josef Originals November “Topaz” birthday figurine and a June “Pearl” figurine along with a rare 4th of July Josef Originals Patriotic bell figurine and all have the much saugt after “black eyes”. I listed these cuties in my EBay and Etsy stores and am already receiving so much interest. There are a lot of Josef Originals collectors out there as doll collecting is apparently a huge collectibles area led of course by women.

About Josef Originals:
Josef Originals are designed by artist Muriel Joseph George who is the creator of Josef Originals back in 1945. These figures are created with the utmost attention to authenticity, including the detailed ceramic construction and 24K gold paint for character accents. Cute animals, charming dolls, delightful Christmas characters.

Some of the more popular lines created by Muriel for Josef Originals:
* Dolls of the Month Series–A doll for every month of the year.
* Days of the Week Series–Dolls for every day of the week.
* Little Pet Series–Children with pets.
* Birthday Girls Series–Dolls for every year from newborn to 21.
* Birthstone Dolls Series–Girls with dresses the same color as birthstones.
* Career Series–Showing careers such as teachers and nurses.
* All sorts of Christmas figurines.

The name:
Yes, there is a story behind the name “Josef Originals.” The name was supposed to be spelled “Joseph,” but the printer made a mistake on the first set of labels that were ordered. It was too late to change the labels. The orders were in and the ceramics had to be shipped. So, “Josef Originals” was born.
