It was a gorgeous day here in Santa Rosa, CA. Sun was shining and it was in the mid 60s. I had been spending much time at home recovering from a darn shoulder injury and for the first time in nearly a month I was feeling well enough to head out for some antiquing. We walked through a couple thrift stores but nothing was calling out to us and then we ended up at Whistle Stop Antiques and it is a small multi dealer mall that had lots and lots of shoppers. I had been to this shop before and nearly always find something and today was great as I found a few really neat items. These 3 mermaids are so cute….I haven’t seen faces like theirs before with lots of color on the cheeks and eyes as intricate as theirs. I am researching the maker of the mermaids and can see the 2 smaller ones are signed with what looks like “Doris King” and the bigger mermaid is signed “SL”. I also found an adorable vintage Valentine couple, pair of anthropomorphic fish salt and pepper shakers, a sweet table runner with embroidered poodles on each end as well as this really adorable vintage Lefton Miss Priss pitcher. We saw lots of Bakelite radios that I wouldn’t mind collecting but I need to win a lotto jackpot first as many have price tags in the thousands of dollars!! Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Dropped our lovely little fluff ball Luna (Bichon Frise) doggy at the groomers and had a few hours to ourselves so we headed to Antique Society in Sebastopol. Antique Society is a multi-dealer mall (my favorite kind of mall) and have been “waiting” for the dealers to put out some vintage holiday items and today we sure saw lots and lots of vintage Christmas collectibles. There were lots of tinsel trees in all kinds of colors, so many Shiny Brite ornaments and lots of Santa’s. I had a blast. Here are a couple pics for you all. I am still searching for a vintage bottle brush wreath and hope to find one very soon. Hope you are all enjoying the holidays.

I discovered a little thrift store in an older little strip mall recently. The thrift store is run by the hospice folks and sales help support hospice and they have the sweetest little old ladies running the shop. Prices are outrageously LOW! I stopped in yesterday and found a set of 8 vintage Christmas candy cane mugs that could be used for eggnog or cocoa or even in little Christmas vignettes and 4 pairs of Made in Italy Majolica hand painted Salt shakers. So, keep your eyes open and look for those “hidden” thrift stores and thrift stores that support worth while causes that you support and believe in as they have amazing items that are donated and your shopping there supports a good cause. Hope you are all having a great weekend.

I am so excited to have come across these totally “WoW” goodies!! This is the time of year when you have an opportunity to find those “rare” and “hard-to-find” items as collectors and dealers are going over their inventory and selling off items before the end of the year. I came across these adorable vintage 1950s Lefton bluebird salt and pepper shakers with rhinestone eyes, vintage Norcrest bluebird shakers with sparkly eyes too, a super sweet Lefton Mr. Toodles mug, a pair of vintage 1950s Luzianne Coffee Mammy Salt and Pepper Shakers and a pair of Anthropomorphic Pead Pod salt and pepper shakers along with this Anthropomorphic Napco Apple salt and pepper shaker. Yes, as many of you know, I am totally obsessed with Anthropomorphic items and salt and pepper shakers and did you know for the past several years, salt and pepper shaker collecting has really been growing as it is fun, easy item to collect and you can find all sorts of deals on them once you learn your “niche” of collecting. All these goodies are available HERE and Over Here.

Driving through the country this morning and I spot a little sign on the side of the road “Estate Sale Today” and an arrow point to the right. The sale must have just been starting as it was still rather early out on a Saturday morning and only a couple other people were there. The house was a little old country cottage nestled amongst grape growing vines that had yet to be harvested….super cute setting! I went inside looked around a little. There was a really nice mix of things and lots of paintings. I bought a super cute vintage 1950s Lefton/Norcrest Bluebird sugar & creamer set, a pair of mini Staffordshire poodle mantle dogs, a darling little vintage Napco “February” angel figurine and a vintage little Josef Originals “Peter Rabbit” figurine. I was over-the-moon thrilled! Prices were amazingly low too. My lucky day!!

I have been searching for these little bluebirds for so long. I once obtained the sugar jar and my husband and I started calling it the “sugar chick” and I listed her on eBay and she sold within minutes and when I dropped her at the post office to go to her new home I was sad, heart broken. I never thought I would get attached to a vintage sugar jar but the little face and those eyes just stole my heart. I have been looking for a replacement for so long and today I found my little sugar chicks!! The lady that sold them to me at the estate sale said she had a pair of salt and pepper shakers and a cookie jar that matched the set but they sold minutes before I arrived. No worries, I had my sugar chicks and lots of other goodies!! Visit us at Crazy4Me eBay.

It took a drive into San Francisco this weekend and then some hunting through some of the most bizarre vintage shops (I will post later about the shops) but it turned out to be a good weekend for finding some lovely vintage goodies. I am thrilled with this German made Royal Crown lady teapot, I have not see one like her before and think she is so charming and reminds me of the vintage half doll pincushions in a way. Anyone that knows me, knows I simply cannot pass anything up made by PY and this little cutie is made by PY and is a wall plaque/planter and she holds her peach and makes me smile. I am glad that some vendors are starting to put out some vintage Christmas collectibles and I was really fortunate to find these 1958 Holt Howard Pixie Girl Candleholders (complete set) and this 1950s Relpo Santa Claus planter…I just love the vintage Christmas decorations from the 50s. Did you go thrifting, junking, treasure hunting this weekend? What did you find? To think, I didn’t really even feel like leaving the house and ended up going out with dear old mom and stopped at FFT ANTIQUES & COLLECTIBLES which turns out is a nonprofit antiques and collectibles shop that runs on donations and supports the Food For Thought, Sonoma County HIV/AIDS Food Bank.

The place was packed with shoppers and had lots of high quality items. Everything was incredibly reasonably priced… something I have not really seen since I came to Sonoma Country. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Also, not every little thing was locked in a glass cabinet showcase so you could pick up items and decide right then and there if you were buying (I like this much better).

I have my mom to thank for this amazing collection of vintage 1950s anthropomorphic salt and pepper shakers as it is she that spotted them. I felt like I hit the jackpot!! These are all in near mint condition and include the really rare PY Miyao Onion Lady salt and pepper shakers and the PY Oriental Lilly flower face shakers (my favorites). Mom ended up buying some vintage linens, tablecloths and tea towels that too were all so reasonably priced. I really feel like FFT ANTIQUES & COLLECTIBLES is a “gem” and I will go on my list of favorite antique shops and must visit spots, also it supports a good cause and I am all for that. Hope you are all having a great weekend!
