Our 4th was a blast! Not because the fireworks show but because of a marvelous day with my husband who drove us a few hours each way to Sacramento to our favorite antique mall – Midway Antique Mall. It was scorching hot too; when we drove towards home the car dash read 122 degrees outside in the sun!!
I was excited about going to Midway Antique Mall and wanted to plan my outfit carefully, one that could handle a couple hour long car ride in the heat while still looking spectacular and festive for the 4th of July. I decided on my new nautical themed dress that has a sweetheart neckline (perfect for busty gals) against a dark navy blue there are white anchors and ship wheels, and the dress is decorated with white scalloped piping, capped sleeves, and a 1950s full skirt. The Joni dress is made by Voodoovixen in the UK and has a little stretch to the fabric. I styled it with a red belt, red vintage purse, and red flower in my hair to give myself a red, white and blue festive look. I added a very light petticoat underneath but net time I will wear it with my Hell Bunny full and fluffy petticoat. The dress wore incredibly, barely wrinkled, felt so good on, very comfortable, and I received non-stop compliments.
Once at the mall, we were not disappointed. I love this place!! Midway Antique Mall has their showrooms all setup like living spaces directly out of the 50s-60s complete with furniture from the era. They also have a dealer that has a showroom inside the mall called Hepcat Restorations and they too have incredible lamps, lampshades (pic of the pink room and items from this dealer) lots of artwork, tables, pillows, carpets, drapes, and more. Electronics too from media consoles, record players, Philco Predicta televisions and more. The kitchens (I have posted on previous blog posts of mine) are also incredible with their actual cabinets, eating tables, and appliances. You will also find lots of collectibles, jewelry, linens, vintage clothing and accessories (I did pick up two purses) and wonderful artwork, ephemera, cameras, telephones, poodle dog and flamingo goodies too. We spent a few hours touring the mall and had such a wonderful time. Here are some pics of the goodies I brought home.
The drive home was hot and long, we stopped off for dinner and were home in time to let out the fluffy puffball Bichon Frise of our’s- Luna. Hope you all had a wonderful and safe 4th!!
